Achieve GPS-Free Position Hold
This sensor works just like an optical mouse. The PMW3901 optical flow sensor “sees” the ground texture, allowing your flight controller (running firmware like INAV or ArduPilot) to detect and correct for any horizontal drift. This enables your FPV drone to maintain a stable hover and hold its position with incredible precision, all without a single satellite lock.
Precise Low-Altitude Sensing with Lidar
Paired with the optical flow sensor is a VL53L0X Lidar module. This laser time-of-flight sensor accurately measures the distance to the ground up to 2 meters away. This provides much more precise altitude data than a standard barometer at low altitudes, resulting in a rock-solid altitude hold that is perfect for indoor flight or low-to-the-ground cinematic shots.
Important Usage & Installation Tips
- This module is designed for low-altitude position hold. The Lidar sensor has a maximum effective range of 2 meters.
- The optical flow sensor requires adequate lighting to function properly (minimum >60Lux). It will not work in complete darkness.
- For proper initialization, ensure the sensor lens is mounted more than 2cm from the ground when the FPV drone is powered on.
- Connects to any available UART on your flight controller.
